Our History
Since 1994, Hospice Northumberland has trained more than 250 volunteers. Hospice volunteers provide practical, social, emotional and spiritual support that also includes families and friends.
Hospice continues to grow from its initial days. The Volunteer Visiting Program remains the core of what Hospice can offer to those moving through a very difficult and intimate journey.
In this past year, Hospice has made several investments that are a testament to its commitment to meet a growing need for care within the County. The staff complement has increased significantly, including the hiring of the first full-time Executive Director and increased administrative support.
As well, the organization has increased its complement of Program Coordinators, addressing both the increase in clients, as well as the need to develop new programs for specific groups.
And, Hospice has recently moved to a new facility that will allow the organization to work with community partners to introduce additional activities designed for clients, caregivers and volunteers.
