Hospice relies on the generous
support of the community, as shown through participation in various
community special events.
Each year, Hospice hosts several
events which are sponsored by community businesses and donors and
are planned to be entertaining for the whole community. These
include:
Hike for Hospice:
What is Hike for Hospice Palliative Care?
A unique national fundraising event across Canada that brings
together organizations working together in hospice palliative care
to raise funds and awareness in their community!
On Sunday May 2nd in Memorial Park, Port Hope, we
kicked off National Hospice Palliative Care Week with our 1st
Annual Hike for Hospice.
After the hike, participants enjoyed lunch provided by Subway
Port Hope as well as cake, face painting, balloon twisting, music
and prizes! Selena Forsyth was the hiker with the highest monetary value
in pledges and won four (4) VIA tickets to Kingston, Ontario
(compliments of VIA Rail), two night stay in Kingston (compliments
of the Ambassador Conference Resort) and a $100 Gift Certificate to
Chez Piggy!
Thanks to everyone for their support and making our 1st Hike
for Hospice such a success! Together we raised $13.315 for
palliative care in Northumberland County!
