VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT HOSPICE

There are many ways to support the work of this organization.  Hospice Northumberland serves residents of the county and works closely with community health care providers.

Hospice volunteers are its strength, both as trained palliative volunteers who visit and support clients, and as volunteers who support the organization’s operations.

Volunteers are critical to ensuring that staff resources are focussed on client care.

Your volunteer contributions are most rewarding when what you do is matched with your interests, skills and knowledge.

Are you proud of your people skills, interested in listening to others and willing give understanding and compassion to clients in their homes, in the hospital or in a nursing home?  Volunteers are trained, matched with a client and given caring support by our Program Coordinators, as

·         Palliative volunteers

·         Bereavement support volunteers

Do you like to see an organization’s operations (administrative, financial, human resource management, program activities) run well?  Perhaps you like the creative side of program or project development, of event support, or of public relations and communications?

Volunteer help is needed in the following areas of its work:

  • Administrative or office support

½ day a week or more, scheduled

  • Special Event management and support

Project or program specific, usually time limited

  • Committee participation

usually several hours a month, advising and carrying out the committee’s work – may involve time limited tasks in between meetings
